The Importance of Taking a Time Out

I've been trying to juggle going to work, cooking dinner, cleaning, doing laundry, being a decent matron of honor for my best friend (YES! I AM HER MOH!), while also still being able to spend time with my family and have a social life.  Sometimes I feel as if 2 cups of coffee in a day still isn't enough, and while I love the idea of staying busy, we tend to forget how important it is to take a moment to ourselves.  I used to take my time outs in the morning.  I would wake up early and drink my coffee while blogging or even just watching a Disney movie before I got my day started.  Well since my life has become a circus lately, I end up missing out on my mornings because I swap them out to get some extra sleep.  A couple of days ago I rushed back from work and was in a frantic while I was prepping for dinner, and then I peaked out the window to see that the shadows of the sun were slowly gracing my apartment building.  I decided to drop everything in my hand and go up to our roof and just admire the beauty of the setting sun.  I used to always do that in Charleston.  It was easy with the beaches and the sunrises and the whole independent living thing. I sat on the roof that day with a cup of tea and literally breathed for 30 minutes. Those 30 minutes affected my entire week and I took a photo of the beauty just to remember that my time outs are not only helpful, but almost required to live a healthy and happy life. So here is to hump day, and hope that everyone takes a chance today to take some time alone... just because we deserve a break too!
