Thanksgiving traditions at my house always, always, always include pecan pie.
That is the top choice of dessert pie from all of my family members... well except for me. I have a tie. I love all things pumpkin, but I also love all things pecan. So the solution to my dilemma is this maple pecan pumpkin pie. Let me just say that if you prefer very dense pumpkin pies, then this one may not be for you. The pie crust is perfectly flaky, the filling is smooth and creamy, and the topping adds the perfect crunch that you can't get anywhere except from a pecan pie. Because there are a few days left before Thanksgiving, I thought I'd share this recipe just in case someone wants to take on the hurdle and make something for the family that they will never forget.

I first saw this recipe on The Foodnetwork's Throwdown with Bobby Flay. To my great surprise, he actually won the challenge, leaving this pie to be only 2nd best to his. In my opinion, I prefer this type of pie over a dense pumpkin... but you can decide that for yourself. This recipe can be found here
. I substituted Michele's pie crust with pillsbury's and incorporated graham crackers on the bottom and top of the pie.
